American Hustle New Trailer Expands On Grifting Gone Sideways

American Hustle is set to hit on December 13th, and it’s probably the best film you don’t know about. The marketing push just hasn’t seemed to get into gear yet, and considering the names involved, that’s pretty surprising.

With David O. Russell directing, you’d think that would be enough to warrant a bigger push, and one that had already forced your attention long before now, but add Christian Bale, Amy Adams, Bradley Cooper, Jeremy Renner, and Jennifer Lawrence to the mix, and you have to wonder why this movie isn’t everywhere.

The new trailer showcases the out of control nature of the behind-the-scenes world that is serious con artistry, and what happens when something that is already a tenuous existence has the rug pulled out from under it.

Not only do you have an amazing cast here, but one of the more solidly crafted trailers to come along in a while as well. Make sure this one is on your radar, because it’s coming up quick.

A fictional film set in the alluring world of one of the most stunning scandals to rock our nation, American Hustle tells the story of brilliant con man Irving Rosenfeld (Christian Bale), who along with his equally cunning and seductive British partner Sydney Prosser (Amy Adams) is forced to work for a wild FBI agent Richie DiMaso (Bradley Cooper). DiMaso pushes them into a world of Jersey powerbrokers and mafia that’s as dangerous as it is enchanting. Jeremy Renner is Carmine Polito, the passionate, volatile, New Jersey political operator caught between the con-artists and Feds. Irving’s unpredictable wife Rosalyn (Jennifer Lawrence) could be the one to pull the thread that brings the entire world crashing down. Like David O. Russell’s previous films, American Hustle defies genre, hinging on raw emotion, and life and death stakes.
