Quirky, Provocative About Cherry Gets Five New Clips

With a pretty good run at some notable film festivals, About Cherry, a curious, few-holds barred look at the porn industry is now available through SundanceNOW, and will be in (some) theaters September 21st.

With James Franco, Heather Graham, Dev Patel, and others in the cast, this one has a variety of draws beyond simply its risque bent.

For all that a quick synopsis might lead you to throw this one into an easy pigeonhole (as will some of the clips), it’s been getting some good feedback, and critics aren’t dismissing it on the whole. We’ll run with the idea that James Franco and Heather Graham aren’t exactly hard up enough to take any piece of drivel that comes their way, and assume there must be something to the thing.

Still, this isn’t your grandfather’s expose on the porn industry (whatever the hell that could mean), and it’s not for the faint of heart… or something.

Check out the new clips and the trailer in the player below.

ABOUT CHERRY is now available on SundanceNOW:

Angelina (Ashley Hinshaw) is an 18-year-old on the verge of finishing high school, rushing to escape her broken family life. After reluctantly taking nude photos at her boyfriend’s (Jonny Weston) behest, she takes the cash to skip town with her best friend (Dev Patel). Angelina gets a job cocktailing in a San Francisco strip club where she meets Frances (James Franco), an affluent lawyer who introduces her to a high-class world beyond her wildest dreams. At the same time, Angelina begins exploring San Francisco’s porn industry, using the moniker Cherry, under the wing of a former performer turned adult film director (Heather Graham). But Angelina’s newfound ideal lifestyle soon comes apart at the seams. ABOUT CHERRY challenges assumptions about sexuality and pornography, while addressing the common struggle of finding one’s role in life.
