RU? Instant Reaction Review Podcast Ep. 81 – Dallas Buyers Club & The World’s End

Despite the buzz, I didn’t think Dallas Buyers Club was very likely to wow me, and even though it didn’t exactly, it’s still a pretty awesome movie in its own way. I would have liked a little more this, and a little less that, but it pulls you along pretty well, and McConaughey is fantastic.

We ended up liking it pretty well, especially for the acting, but I’d say that perhaps we appreciated it more than we could truly manage to like it. It gets high marks, and it is very solid in a lot of ways, but it just doesn’t have that certain something… and, Jennifer Garner is the wrong choice.

The World’s End, on the other hand, we both hated.

You’ll have to tune in for the full report on the films, and you’ll also get some info we shared about the website, and we answer a listener question about the state of the awards race this year. Not well, but we answer it.

Tim Roth's Tin Star is easily one of the best performances the year will offer, though the show itself doesn't quite live up to that. It's a wildly fun thriller, but it will make you uncomfortable to say that, and it's one you'll definitely find yourself wanting to binge.
