You may not have heard much about this one, especially since it is currently slated for a release in October, but this is a film that should take over conversations once we get through the summer. Tomas Alfredson doesn’t whip out a lot of films as a director, but when he does we get things like Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and Let the Right One In.
This one is based on the novel by Jo Nesbø, and stars Michael Fassbender as Harry Hole, a detective investigating the murder of a woman whose scarf turns up on a snowman.
Nesbø has turned the crime novel world upside-down, and is universally regarded as one of its brightest stars and someone who has really changed the game altogether. When award season rolls around again, this is a movie that it won’t be possible to ignore.
