There’s been no shortage of controversy surrounding Ghost in the Shell, which is a little surprising just based on the fact that this isn’t something that has really pushed out of its niche into the general, cultural awareness.

That will hopefully change (depending on where we go with the story exactly), because this could be a fantastic story delivered wonderfully. Scarlett Johansson is really good when she has the right script, which means we can’t be sure which way that’s going here, but there’s a lot of potential for her to work with. Plus, it has Juliette Binoche and a brilliant supporting cast.

It could easily go sideways, not least because I’m not convinced by the screenwriters, but if we get even a decent spin this will become an instant sci-fi classic.
