Are You Screening? Podcast – Eps. 204-206 – Best And Worst Of 2016

In an effort to catch up (festivals and such have destroyed us), we’re throwing together our best and worst list episodes, as well as our own “Can’t Win” Awards, for those who may have missed them.

The year was a strange one, as I suppose everyone knows, but we managed to put together lists that we think will offer some divergence from everyone else’s. While your top 10 lists regularly include the same 13 movies no matter where you go, this was a year that really tried to make sure that idea hit home. We have a few additions you probably aren’t going to run into as much.

2016 was also an odd year for our own awards, which is actually rare. We usually find some smaller gems, that really have no hope of ever being nominated for anything, but in 2016 most of the ones we would usually fall for either didn’t live up to our expectations, or managed too much and attention. In some cases, movies that we long had on our list of potentials went and actually got nominated for something, which makes it hard to argue that they couldn’t get nominated for anything.

Of course, our highest picks probably aren’t going to be surprising, but some of them hit us a little differently than a lot of other critics.

And, it’s always good to balance things out with a worst list, because you also have to know what to avoid.

Now that a lot of these things are hitting Blu-Ray, cable, and digital download, make sure you visit them, if you havent already.

Also, now is the time to make sure that you subscribe to us on iTunes and follow us, either socially or through our RSS, because starting with the next episode of our podcast we will be having a giveaway with every episode. It might be something from our grab bag of titles, movie tickets, or something that isn’t even out yet (like the movie we’re reviewing when it comes out on Blu-Ray).

Give us a listen below, and be sure to Share, Rate us on iTunes, Review us on iTunes, and otherwise trick your friends into listening to us.

Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce is one of those rare shows that makes you get creative in order to figure out what potential you can say it might have, and that lives up to that potential.
